Funchal Opens Applications for School Supplies Support on July 6
Madeira GuideFunchal begins accepting applications for its school supplies support program on July 6, targeting students of the basic education cycles in Funchal.
Funchal, the capital of Madeira, is set to commence applications for its much-anticipated school supplies support program on July 6, 2026. This initiative aims to assist students in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cycles of basic education who have resided in the Funchal municipality for over a year and are enrolled in local educational establishments.
The program, which runs until October 30, 2026, provides support through an Education Voucher, credited to the Citizen's Card, and can be used at participating establishments to purchase school materials. This voucher system operates in conjunction with the Regional Government's support, ensuring additional assistance for families.
For the 1st cycle, students receiving government support for textbooks will receive a €30 Education Voucher, while those not covered by such support will benefit from a €60 voucher. For students in the 2nd and 3rd cycles, those part of the Digital Textbooks program will receive a €30 voucher, and those not included in the program will receive vouchers ranging from €50 to €100, with lower amounts granted to those benefiting from Social School Action (ASE).
Applications, as well as requests for the Citizen's Card, are to be submitted exclusively online via the municipal platform. The Education Voucher will remain valid until December 31, 2026. Helena Leal, the councilor responsible for education, emphasizes that this program underscores the municipal government's commitment to supporting families and promoting equal educational opportunities.
Application Process and Eligibility
To be eligible, students must be residents of Funchal for more than a year and be enrolled in a local school. The application process is fully digital, simplifying access for families.
This initiative not only aids families financially but also promotes the use of digital resources in education, aligning with modern educational trends.
