Funchal Increases Bus Services for Monte Festival

The public transport company, Horários do Funchal, has announced a reinforcement of bus services for the 021 line in light of the upcoming celebrations for Nossa Senhora do Monte, the patron saint of Madeira. This initiative aims to provide a convenient and sustainable travel option between the city center of Funchal and the Monte area.
The enhanced services will offer additional trips starting from the usual stop at Rua 31 de Janeiro, heading towards Largo da Fonte. This is particularly timely as the celebrations draw many visitors and locals to the area, necessitating improved transport solutions.
Special Schedule for August 14th and 15th
On August 14th, buses will operate from 6:00 PM until 1:00 AM the following day, and on August 15th, from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Descending trips on August 14th will run from 7:00 PM to 4:00 AM, while on August 15th, they will operate from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
- All valid transport tickets for line 021 will be accepted, including onboard tickets, pre-purchased tickets, and municipal passes.
- Regular services on lines 020, 021, 022, and 048 will continue, with a Sunday/holiday schedule on August 15th.
- Temporary route changes will be in effect from August 11th to 16th during specified hours.
These changes are instituted to manage the high influx of visitors during the festival, ensuring that both tourists and residents can enjoy the events without transportation issues.
