The Funchal City Council is set to celebrate International Youth Day on August 12th with an array of engaging activities at São Tiago Beach, offering youth the chance to enjoy aquatic sports and more.

The Funchal City Council has announced a vibrant celebration for International Youth Day on August 12th, 2026. The event, aimed at engaging the youth, will take place at the picturesque São Tiago Beach from 14:00 to 22:00.

This initiative is designed to promote an active lifestyle among young people and encourage their participation in the social and cultural dynamics of the region. The event will be inaugurated by Helena Leal, the councilor responsible for Youth and Sports.

Activities and Events

The celebration will feature a variety of free activities, particularly focusing on aquatic sports. From 14:00 to 19:00, participants can enjoy a thrilling selection of water-based fun including a boat-towed water sofa, water trampoline, and Seascooter propulsion. For those interested in more serene activities, there will be opportunities for Stand Up Paddle, snorkeling, and a slide.

Aside from water sports, the event will host an E-Sports Tent equipped with simulators and cockpits for FIFA and Rally competitions, providing a competitive edge for gaming enthusiasts.

The festivities will culminate in a Sunset Session from 19:00 to 22:00 at Barreirinha Bar Café, where DJ Oxy will entertain attendees, ensuring the day ends on a high note of music and camaraderie.
