Fuel Prices Decrease Again in Madeira

Starting from Monday, July 6, 2026, residents and visitors in Madeira will benefit from reduced fuel costs. This marks another decrease in the maximum retail prices of gasoline and diesel, making fuel prices on the island more competitive than those in the Azores and mainland Portugal.
According to a joint directive from the Regional Secretariat for Economy and the Regional Secretariat for Finance, the price of unleaded gasoline IO 95 will drop by 0.5 cents per liter, setting the new price at €1.746 per liter. Similarly, road diesel will see a reduction of 1.0 cent, bringing the price down to €1.638 per liter, compared to the previous €1.739.
The colored and marked diesel (GCM), often used by agricultural and fishing sectors, will also experience a price cut of 1.0 cent, resulting in a new maximum price of €1.196 per liter.
This adjustment reflects Madeira's ongoing efforts to maintain competitive fuel pricing, which is crucial for the island's economy that heavily relies on tourism and local businesses. By keeping fuel costs lower than other regions, Madeira aims to support its residents and attract more tourists.
The revised prices will be in effect from July 6 to July 12, 2026. Such measures not only benefit the local economy but also provide relief to tourists who frequently explore the island by car.
