The first fire was reported in São Paulo, Ribeira Brava, where six firefighters from the local brigade, supported by a heavy vehicle and four firefighters from Câmara de Lobos, worked tirelessly to contain the blaze. The challenging terrain and strong winds have made firefighting efforts particularly difficult.
In a separate incident, another fire erupted in the Estrada Nova da Lombada area of Ponta do Sol. Five firefighters from the Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol brigade, along with assistance from a heavy vehicle from Calheta, were deployed to control the situation.
Despite the difficult conditions, the coordinated efforts of the various fire brigades have prevented the fires from spreading further, although the situation remains under close monitoring.
