The first event involved a van fire in Quinta Grande, prompting a swift response from the Câmara de Lobos Volunteer Firefighters. The blaze, near a local pharmacy, was quickly extinguished by nearby residents using two fire extinguishers. Nine firefighters attended the scene with three vehicles to ensure the situation was under control.
Almost simultaneously, another fire incident was reported in Ribeira Seca. The Machico Municipal Firefighters were dispatched to a house annex fire. By the time the nine firefighters arrived with their three vehicles, the flames had already been put out, minimizing potential damage.
Additionally, a traffic accident occurred on the Via Rápida at the Viveiros entrance in the direction of Funchal-Caniço, involving two cars. Two women in their 30s sustained minor injuries and were taken to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for treatment. The incident highlighted ongoing concerns about road safety on the island, especially on busy routes like the Via Rápida.
