Entrepreneurship Initiatives in Madeira Create Over 1,000 Jobs

The Instituto de Emprego da Madeira (IEM) has announced a significant milestone in its entrepreneurship initiatives. Since the launch of the CRIEE program in 2015, a total of 1,024 jobs have been created across the Autonomous Region of Madeira. This achievement highlights the success of the program aimed at fostering business creation and employment.
On August 26, 2026, a ceremony was held to sign five new Incentive Grant Contracts, boosting the local economy with the promise of nine additional jobs. The event took place at the auditorium of the Secretariat for Inclusion, Work, and Youth, presided over by Paula Margarido, alongside Pedro Santos Gouveia, the president of IEM, and other officials.
These new contracts represent a total investment of over €281,000 and support entrepreneurial ventures in diverse fields such as pool maintenance, electrical installation, ready-to-eat meal preparation, aesthetics, and IT consultancy. The variety of sectors illustrates the adaptability and responsiveness of Madeira's entrepreneurial landscape to market demands.
The CRIEE program, backed by more than €11.5 million in public investment, continues to be a strategic tool for promoting entrepreneurship and job creation. According to Paula Margarido, the program is designed to support the establishment of businesses that meet concrete market needs, thereby generating new business opportunities and enhancing employment in the region.
