Man Trapped in Nazaré Forest
Late on the night of July 17, a man found himself trapped in the Mata da Nazaré, a well-known garden within the Bairro da Nazaré. He had ventured there for a walk with his dog when he became stuck, prompting a rescue operation by the local fire brigade. Three firefighters arrived on the scene with a light vehicle to free the man by unlocking a door, ensuring his safe return.
Fire Near São Tiago Beach
On the same day, the firefighters were dispatched to São Tiago beach in Funchal, where they tackled a blaze among the tetrapods along the pier. The fire, which was contained to waste materials, was swiftly extinguished by a team of three using a light vehicle. The quick response prevented any significant damage or injury.
Crumbling Wall at Levada do Bom Sucesso
Earlier that day, the firefighters also attended to a report of a collapsing wall at the Levada do Bom Sucesso. Loose stones had fallen, posing a potential hazard to the public. The area was promptly cleared of debris, and the Municipal Civil Protection Service was alerted to ensure further safety measures were in place.
