Cat Rescued from Electricity Pole
In the Monte area, the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters were dispatched to Estrada do Corujeira. A cat had become stranded atop an electricity pole, unable to descend. Using a special ladder truck, two firefighters successfully rescued the feline, ensuring its safe return to the ground.
Assault in Funchal
Simultaneously, another team of the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters was called to an incident on Rua da Carne Azeda in Funchal. A man in his 60s was assaulted, suffering facial injuries. He was promptly provided with medical assistance and transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further care.
Tragic Discoveries in Machico and Câmara de Lobos
Earlier in the day, the Machico Municipal Firefighters were alerted to a grim situation on Estrada Dom Manuel I. An elderly man, in his 80s, was found dead in his home. Despite the swift response, there was nothing that could be done to revive him.
Adding to the day's tragedies, the Volunteer Firefighters of Câmara de Lobos discovered an elderly woman, also in her 80s, deceased in her residence at Ribeira da Alforra. Like the Machico incident, the situation was beyond rescue efforts.
These events highlight the broad scope of emergencies that can occur on Madeira, spanning from animal rescues to serious health and safety incidents.
