Floods in the border region between Nepal and China have killed 1,130 people and left 4,462 missing. Nepal accounts for 1,114 of the deaths and 3,916 of the missing; in Tibet, 16 people died and 546 are missing. Search and rescue operations continue.
Local reports describe the floods as the largest in the region in living memory, with water levels 15 to 18 metres above normal. The Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border post, a major trade link between the two countries, was destroyed.
The Nepalese government has asked the Loss and Damage Response Fund for urgent financial assistance.

The floods in the Nepal-China border region have resulted in the disappearance of at least 583 foreign nationals, according to Nepalese authorities. Among the missing are four Portuguese citizens: three in Nepal and one in Tibet. Emergency teams have managed to rescue over 6,500 people, including approximately 580 foreigners.
