CQM Opens Doors to Young Scientists for Summer 2026 Program
Madeira GuideThe Chemistry Center of Madeira invites young students to a unique scientific internship this summer, encouraging future careers in research.
The Chemistry Center of Madeira (CQM) is once again opening its laboratories to young students as part of the "Occupação Científica de Jovens nas Férias 2026" initiative. This program offers a unique opportunity for students who have completed the 10th, 11th, or 12th grades to engage with scientific research in a real laboratory setting.
Scheduled to run from July 2nd to 8th, the internships will take place daily from 10 AM to 5 PM at the CQM facilities located at the University Campus of Penteada. This year's program features three exciting themes: "Exploring Electrochemistry," "Volatilomic Profile of Patients with Colorectal Pathology," and "Nanomedicine – Gene Delivery in Cells."
The initiative is supported by the Fundação Ciência Viva in collaboration with CQM, aiming to provide young scholars with firsthand experience in scientific labs under the guidance of experienced researchers. The program seeks to spark interest in science, foster critical thinking, and encourage future scientific careers.
Interested students can apply through the Ciência Viva website. For further inquiries, contact can be made via email to Pedro Pires at pedro.pires@staff.uma.pt.
