Local officials from Chega express concerns over fiscal benefits and lack of planning in the delayed Rua dos Dragoeiros project in Ribeira Brava, causing distress to locals and businesses.

The ongoing renovation project of Rua dos Dragoeiros in Ribeira Brava has sparked significant controversy. Local officials from the Chega party, including Renata Rocha and Roberto Gonçalves, have publicly criticized the municipal executive's handling of the project, citing delays and negative impacts on local residents and businesses.

The project, which began several months ago, remains incomplete, causing inconvenience to the community. Chega representatives have highlighted the lack of planning and the subsequent disruption to daily life in the area.

In a recent municipal assembly meeting, a proposal was introduced to offer fiscal benefits to those affected by the construction. Initially presented as a property tax exemption (IMI), it was later revealed to include a transaction tax exemption (IMT) as well. This revelation raised questions about the transparency of the process.

The transparency cannot be selective," said Renata Rocha, emphasizing the need for clear communication regarding who benefits from these measures and the criteria used.

This situation has left many residents and business owners frustrated, as they continue to endure the challenges posed by the unfinished roadwork. Chega's call for transparency and better planning reflects the broader concerns of the community, urging the municipal authorities to address the issues promptly.
