The IHM has announced that 27 new social housing apartments in São Gonçalo, Funchal, will be completed by November 2027, as part of Madeira's public housing strategy.

The Investimentos Habitacionais da Madeira (IHM) has projected the completion of 27 new social housing apartments in São Gonçalo, located in Funchal, by November 2027. This ambitious project is a crucial component of the regional strategy to expand Madeira's public housing supply, particularly in the aftermath of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

The construction began following the award of the contract on June 19, with a total budget of 4.158 million euros, excluding VAT. The funding is sourced from the Regional Budget, emphasizing the local government's commitment to addressing housing shortages through strategic public investments.

By the end of this year, the IHM aims to initiate procedures that will facilitate the construction of over a hundred additional affordable public housing units. This initiative reflects the broader objective of enhancing living conditions and providing affordable housing solutions for the residents of Madeira.

São Gonçalo, a picturesque area in Funchal, is not only a popular residential area but also a site of interest for tourists due to its scenic beauty and cultural significance. The development of these apartments is expected to enhance the community's infrastructure and attract more attention to the area.

The IHM's efforts are aligned with the broader goals of Madeira's housing policy, which seeks to ensure equitable access to housing and improve the quality of life for its residents, while simultaneously supporting economic recovery and development.
