The CDU warns of serious mobility issues in the Curral cable car project, highlighting planning flaws and the need for an integrated transport strategy.

CDU Raises Concerns Over Curral Cable Car Project

In a recent press release, the CDU has expressed significant concerns regarding the proposed 'Sistema de Teleféricos para o Curral das Freiras e Jardim da Serra', pointing out critical planning deficiencies identified by the technical report from EDICARTE.

The report estimates that the cable car system could attract an average of 650 users per day. However, the current road infrastructure in the region is deemed inadequate to handle this increased traffic, posing serious mobility issues.

The CDU criticized both the Regional Government and the local municipalities for failing to develop a comprehensive strategy to manage increased traffic, parking, and transportation demands, which are expected to surge with the implementation of the cable car project.

The lack of an integrated approach is seen as a major oversight, potentially leading to congestion and mobility challenges. The CDU calls for urgent action to address these planning gaps to ensure the project benefits both residents and tourists without compromising local infrastructure.
