The CDS-PP party in Câmara de Lobos is demanding the immediate reopening of a two-level parking facility in Jardim da Serra, which has been closed due to a large nativity scene.

The CDS-PP party in Câmara de Lobos has made a public appeal for the immediate reopening of a two-level parking facility located in Jardim da Serra. This facility, housed within a building that also accommodates the local Health Center, Casa do Povo, and the Parish Council, has been closed to the public for several years. Its closure is due to the presence of a large nativity scene that occupies the space.

The issue was initially raised in January by centrist councilman Armando Santos during a session of the Câmara de Lobos Municipal Assembly. At that time, Santos urged for the removal of the nativity scene to restore parking access to the local community. Although the municipal executive acknowledged the validity of this request, no action has been taken to date, citing the need for renovations.

Compounding the issue is the recent installation of parking meters along the main street of the parish, which has pushed vehicles into the vicinity of the public service building. This has resulted in unregulated parking and significant accessibility challenges for visitors to the Health Center and Parish Council.

With the annual Cherry Festival in full swing, the CDS-PP notes that reopening the parking facility would be a timely 'gift' for both residents and tourists. The party also acknowledges that the nativity scene will likely return in five months, but stresses the immediate need for parking solutions.

The CDS-PP has expressed its gratitude to the residents of Jardim da Serra for their support and confidence in the party’s efforts to address this pressing issue.
