Caniçal Port, a vital maritime gateway on Madeira Island, marked a significant milestone by simultaneously handling four cargo ships on Monday. This extraordinary operation, coordinated by the Administration of Ports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (APRAM), underscores the port's growing logistical capabilities and strategic importance for both local and international trade.
During this operation, a total of 647 containers and 104 vehicles were unloaded. The containers varied in size, with 514 measuring 40 feet and 133 measuring 20 feet. This meticulous operation was supported by a skilled team of around 20 professionals from APRAM, along with two tugboats and a launch, ensuring smooth and efficient cargo handling.
Notably, one of the ships involved was the 'Jaime S', which arrived from Leixões, a prominent port in mainland Portugal. This highlights Caniçal’s role as a crucial link in the supply chain between Madeira and the mainland.
