Câmara de Lobos Rewards Youth Innovation with €5,000 in Prizes

In a bid to foster innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth, the Câmara Municipal de Câmara de Lobos has awarded a total of €5,000 to the winners of the Banco de Ideias initiative. This annual event, part of the Festa da Juventude 2026, aims to engage young minds in developing solutions to make the city more sustainable and inclusive.

The initiative saw a record number of entries this year, demonstrating a growing interest among young people in contributing to their community's future. The municipality's commitment to turning innovative ideas into tangible projects that benefit society is commendable.

The first prize, worth €2,500, was awarded to the project 'ECOBinGO!', an interactive mobile app designed to promote recycling and environmental sustainability. The app helps users properly sort waste, locate recycling points, access collection schedules, report issues, and encourages eco-friendly behaviors with challenges and rewards.

The second prize of €2,000 went to a proposal for creating a mural at Campo do Curral das Freiras. This artistic endeavor aims to honor individuals who have significantly contributed to local sports and serves to promote cultural decentralization. The project involves collaboration with Teatro Metaphora to create a lasting symbol of recognition and inspiration.

Finally, the third prize, valued at €500, recognized the 'Biblioteca de Rua' project, which plans to install small wooden boxes in public gardens and squares. These boxes will function as free community libraries, encouraging reading and sharing among residents.
