The municipality of Câmara de Lobos, Madeira, celebrates Grandparents' Day on July 24, bringing together grandparents and grandchildren for a day of bonding and sharing at Chão dos Louros.

In a heartfelt initiative, the Câmara Municipal de Câmara de Lobos will celebrate Grandparents' Day by organizing a special event on July 24 at the Chão dos Louros leisure area in São Vicente. This event will bring together 83 participants, including both grandparents and grandchildren, to honor the invaluable role of the older generation in passing down wisdom and family values.

Although Grandparents' Day is officially celebrated on July 26, this year falling on a Sunday, the municipality decided to hold the event earlier to maximize participation and enjoyment. The event aims to foster intergenerational connections and provide a platform for sharing experiences, memories, and values.

Event Schedule

The day's activities are scheduled to start at 10:00 AM, with participants departing from designated meeting points in Câmara de Lobos and Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, heading towards the center of Ribeira Brava. After a brief stop at 10:30 AM, they will continue to the Chão dos Louros area, with activities commencing at 11:30 AM.

The event will feature a picnic lunch at 1:30 PM, allowing participants to enjoy the natural surroundings while fostering community spirit. The day will conclude at 3:00 PM, with participants returning to their starting points.

This initiative not only celebrates the essential role of grandparents but also underscores the importance of family ties and intergenerational dialogue, which are central to Madeira's cultural and social fabric.
