The AFARAM association is launching a project offering free psychological consultations to eight socioeconomically vulnerable residents in Funchal, Madeira, supported by the Municipality of Funchal under the Associativismo 2026 program.

The Associação de Familiares e Amigos do Doente Mental da Região Autónoma da Madeira (AFARAM) has announced an initiative to provide free psychological consultations to residents of Funchal who are facing socioeconomic challenges. This project aims to support eight individuals who might otherwise struggle to afford such services.

The initiative, which runs from July to December 2026, is part of the Associativismo 2026 program, supported by the Municipality of Funchal. This program is dedicated to enhancing community welfare by facilitating access to essential services for those in need.

AFARAM's efforts are particularly significant in a region like Madeira, where mental health services can be limited, and the cost of private consultations can be prohibitive for many families. By offering these consultations for free, AFARAM is helping to bridge this gap and provide crucial support to the community.

Aims and Objectives

The primary goal of this initiative is to make quality psychological support accessible to those who are most in need. By targeting individuals in vulnerable situations, AFARAM hopes to improve the mental health and overall well-being of these residents.

This project is an example of how local organizations can collaborate with municipal authorities to address pressing social issues. Such partnerships are vital for creating sustainable solutions that benefit the community at large.

Psychological health is a critical component of overall well-being, and initiatives like this one by AFARAM are essential in promoting mental health awareness and support in Madeira.
