The political party ADN-Madeira criticizes the Regional Government for repeated delays in the arrival of a second helicopter intended to boost Madeira's Civil Protection.

The political party ADN-Madeira has issued a statement questioning the repeated delays by the Regional Government regarding the arrival of a second helicopter to enhance the island's Civil Protection capabilities. Initially promised to arrive before the summer, the helicopter has yet to be delivered.

In March, the government announced that the procurement process was underway, followed by statements from President Miguel Albuquerque about a national tender and various timelines for the helicopter’s arrival. However, as of August 26, the President confirmed that the final signing of the contract is still pending.

The delays have raised concerns among Madeira residents and tourists alike, as the additional helicopter is seen as crucial for improving emergency response and ensuring safety, especially during peak tourist seasons.

Madeira, a popular tourist destination known for its stunning landscapes and vibrant culture, relies heavily on efficient emergency services to maintain its reputation as a safe travel spot. The island's rugged terrain and occasional adverse weather conditions make air support vital for effective civil protection.
