ADN Madeira has called for clarification and deadlines over nursing blockages in the Region, citing pending equivalencies, recruitment reserves and specialists awaiting regularisation.

ADN Madeira has issued a statement calling for clarifications and a coordinated response to blockages affecting nursing in the Region. The party said the Region should publish an updated picture of nursing needs.

ADN Madeira referred to equivalency processes pending for about three months, 80 nurses still in the SESARAM recruitment reserve, and about 200 specialists who, according to the Order of Nurses, perform differentiated functions without being integrated into the respective category.

The party said the assessment should set out the number of professionals needed by service, retirement forecasts, the status of the recruitment reserve, specialists awaiting regularisation and qualification-recognition processes affecting professionals destined for Madeira.

ADN Madeira asked the Region, the Order of Nurses and competent national entities to establish a coordination mechanism with defined deadlines to prevent needed professionals from remaining blocked for months in administrative procedures.

The party said the issue was whether the necessary professionals were in the right services and categories when patients needed them, rather than the overall number of nurses in Madeira. Mara Faria said it made no sense to talk about reinforcing services while available professionals continued waiting for administrative decisions, recruitment or professional regularisation.
