In a series of unfortunate events, Madeira has witnessed several accidents over the past week, raising concerns about safety and emergency response on the island.

Worker Falls from Crane

On August 25, 2026, a 56-year-old man fell approximately 10 meters from a crane while cutting a tree on Caminho do Poiso, Santo da Serra, Santa Cruz. Despite being conscious, he suffered multiple injuries and was promptly attended to by the EMIR and the Santa Cruz Firefighters.

Child Injured in Garden Fall

Just a few days earlier, on August 21, a seven-year-old girl fell from a three-meter-high wall at the Almirante Reis Gardens. The incident resulted in minor injuries, and she was transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for treatment.

Motorcyclist Involved in Collision

On August 20, a motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a car in Tendeira, Caniço. The motorcyclist sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital for medical care.

These incidents underscore the importance of safety measures and the efficiency of emergency services in Madeira. While the island is renowned for its scenic beauty and tourism appeal, these events serve as a reminder of the everyday risks present.
