MUDAS. Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Madeira
Calheta

- Indoors
- From 6
- Children from 5 €
- Just turn up
A concrete art museum cut into a cliff above Calheta, with an 18 € family ticket and an education service whose workshops are never published in advance.
The building - Paulo David's concrete terraces stepping down the hillside - usually does more for a child than the exhibitions inside it, and the family ticket makes the visit cheap. An education service does exist and runs guided visits and hands-on activities, but nothing is published with a name, a date, an age band or a price, so a family cannot plan around it. Ring first if the workshop is the reason you are driving thirty minutes west.
Worth knowing: Ask for the family ticket by name. It covers at least one adult and at least one minor for 18 €, and it is easy to be sold single tickets instead. Closed Sundays and Mondays.

Getting there
Prices and opening times change without notice, and on this island they change often. Everything here carries the date it was checked in our research notes; if a place has moved or closed, tell us and we will fix it.
