MADEIRA1 PRESENTS

FOUND: Madeira in 3D

Real places, made as small worlds.

FOUND is a series by Madeira1. Each world is one real place on the island - a hotel on its cliff, a restaurant on a Funchal street, a coffee bar behind the Sé - built as a small 3D scene you can turn in your hands, with its story, its people and its sound. Tap a light on the island to fly to it.

The worlds

THE GOLDEN LIZARD

A lizard hides in every world

Madeira's wall lizards sun themselves on every warm stone of the island. In each FOUND world one of them is gold. She hides somewhere you can see from the world - on a wall, a step, a table - and catches the light now and then. Find her and she is yours: this browser keeps the ones you have found, and their lights on the island turn gold.

Questions

What is FOUND?
A series of small 3D worlds by Madeira1. Each one is a portrait of a real place on Madeira - a hotel, a restaurant, a café - built from photographs and open map data, with its people, its light and its sound. They open in the browser: no app, no download.
Are these real places? Can I visit them?
Yes. Every world is a real place in Funchal that you can visit. Each world's page gives its address, its own website and directions.
How do I find the Golden Lizard?
Look around each world. She sits somewhere you can see - never behind a door - and catches the light now and then. Tap her to keep her. This browser remembers the ones you have found, and their lights on the map turn gold.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, on any recent phone, tablet or computer whose browser can draw 3D (WebGL). Without it, each page shows the same place in words.
Will there be more worlds?
Yes. New places join the map as they are made, each with its own light on the island and its own lizard.
