Vereda do Areeiro

OpenLast checked September 11, 2026

Madeira's high traverse, from the Pico do Areeiro viewpoint at 1818 m across the ridge to Pico Ruivo, the highest point on the island. IFCN publishes 6.1 km one way and three hours, and the path never drops below 1491 m, so the whole walk is on open mountain ground. Start and finish are different places, so work out the way back before you set off.
