On the morning of March 6, 2026, a car collided with a motorcycle on the uphill stretch of the expressway in Santa Rita, heading towards Funchal from Câmara de Lobos. The accident resulted in injuries to the 35-year-old female motorcyclist, who complained of pain in her leg and arm. She was promptly attended to by the Funchal Fire Department and transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for further treatment.
Later the same day, another accident occurred on the same expressway, where a car hit the rear of a motorcycle driven by a young man in his twenties. The motorcyclist suffered from an injured ankle and was also taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
