Traffic Accidents: Injuries Reported

The day began with a motorcycle accident on Estrada Dr. João Abel de Freitas in Funchal. A 71-year-old man sustained injuries to his legs and arms and was promptly attended to by the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses before being taken to the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça. In a separate incident, the Bombeiros Municipais de Machico responded to a car overturn in the Túnel da Fazenda, where a couple in their 60s suffered injuries, with the woman complaining of chest pain and the man having cuts on his arm.

Rescue Efforts Amidst Cardiac Arrests

Tragically, a man in his 70s suffered a cardiac arrest on Rua Cabeço de Ferro, Funchal. Despite the rapid response from the EMIR and Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. Earlier, another cardiac arrest was reported on Caminho do Meio, involving a man of a similar age who was fortunately revived and transported to the hospital.

Fire at Bus Stop Raises Alarm

Late in the evening on March 20, a fire broke out at a bus stop near the Jardim Botânico. The incident required the attention of eight firefighters who managed to control the blaze, preventing further damage.

Tragic Discovery in São Pedro

In another somber event, emergency services were called to a home in São Pedro, Funchal, where a man in his 80s was found deceased. The PSP was involved in the investigation of this incident.
