In a series of unsettling events in Funchal, Madeira, the local emergency services were kept busy responding to various incidents that occurred over the past two days. Residents and tourists are urged to exercise caution and stay informed about these occurrences.

Pedestrian Accident on Rua Dr. Brito Câmara

Late on the night of April 2nd, a 55-year-old man was involved in a pedestrian accident on Rua Dr. Brito Câmara. Allegedly under the influence of alcohol, the man tripped on the sidewalk and fell onto the road, where he was struck by a passing vehicle. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, and the man was transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça with a scalp injury.

Car Overturn on SĂŁo Martinho Highway

Earlier on April 2nd, at around 3 AM, a car overturned near the entry of the highway at São Martinho, heading towards Câmara de Lobos. While the vehicle sustained significant damage, fortunately, no injuries were reported. The incident required the presence of five emergency response vehicles to manage the scene.

Multiple Assaults in Funchal

In the early hours of the same day, three separate assault incidents were reported in Funchal. The first two occurred near the São Martinho roundabout, where two men in their 30s and 40s were attacked, sustaining cuts and bruises. Later, around 5 AM, another assault took place on Avenida Zarco, involving a man in his 50s, who was reportedly intoxicated. All injured parties were treated at Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça, and local police were involved in the investigations.

These incidents highlight the importance of vigilance and safety in Funchal, especially during late-night hours. Authorities urge residents and tourists to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities.
