On the afternoon of March 16, a 25-year-old motorcyclist was involved in a serious accident on the access road to the Via Rápida near the Pena area. The young man was thrown approximately five meters after colliding with a car. Emergency responders from the Bombeiros Sapadores do Funchal quickly arrived at the scene, providing first aid before transporting him to the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça. He sustained abrasions on his abdomen and knee, highlighting the dangers faced by motorcyclists on busy roads.
Car Collision on Rua do Engenho Velho
Earlier that morning, another incident occurred involving two light vehicles on Rua do Engenho Velho. A man in his 70s suffered chest pains following the crash. The emergency services, again from the Bombeiros Sapadores do Funchal, were dispatched to assist. The injured man was also taken to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further evaluation and treatment.
Street Altercation at Largo do Visconde do Ribeiro Real
In the early hours of March 14, a violent altercation broke out on Rua da Carreira, resulting in injuries to three men. The incident occurred near Largo do Visconde do Ribeiro Real, a known busy area in Funchal. Two of the injured, aged in their 50s and 60s, were attended by the Bombeiros Sapadores do Funchal, with one suffering a head wound and the other facial injuries from a bite. A third man, in his 30s, was helped by the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses after being kicked in the face on Avenida do Mar, suffering possible nasal fractures. The local police, PSP, intervened to manage the situation.
