Remembering the Lives of Three Esteemed Residents of Madeira

Madeira Island is grieving the recent losses of three cherished members of its community: Teresa Gomes da Silva, Maria de Faria, and Maria da Luz Câmara Costa. These women were not only beloved family members but also integral parts of their local communities.

Teresa Gomes da Silva passed away on April 17, 2026. She was a resident of Estrada da Eira da Moura, Vereda do Lombo do Cavalo, in Serra de Água. Her funeral was held on April 18, 2026, starting from the Hospital Dr. João de Almada with a service at the parish church of Nossa Senhora da Ajuda, followed by her burial in the local cemetery. A memorial service is scheduled for April 25, 2026.

Maria de Faria, who lived on Estrada do Pomar da Rocha, Ribeira Brava, passed away on April 16, 2026. Her funeral occurred on April 17, 2026, beginning at the Hospital dos Marmeleiros with a service at the parish church of São Bento in Ribeira Brava. Transportation was arranged for those attending, and a 7-day memorial mass will be held on April 26, 2026.

Maria da Luz Câmara Costa passed away on April 15, 2026. She was a resident of Caminho Dr. Francisco Rodrigues Jardim, Ribeira da Janela. Her funeral service was on April 18, 2026, starting at Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça and proceeding to the parish church of Nossa Senhora da Encarnação. A 7-day memorial mass is planned for April 25, 2026.
