Regional Government approves 22 new homes in Camacha

The Regional Government approved the construction of 22 new homes in Bairro da Nogueira, Camacha, on Thursday. The development will be built on the site of the former school and carried out through IHM, Investimentos Habitacionais da Madeira, EPERAM.
The project has a base value of €5,491,356, plus VAT at the legal rate in force. The 22 homes will be distributed across three buildings: six two-floor duplex T2 units, six two-floor duplex T3 units, and 10 T1 simplex units in a two-floor multifamily building with a basement.
The interior of the block will provide access to the homes, independent access to each housing type and a parking area for residents.
Pedro Rodrigues said the project was another concrete example of the Regional Government's housing strategy. He said the investment would give public property a new use, strengthen the public housing stock and help more families access decent housing.
The investment forms part of a broader intervention in Bairro da Nogueira. A tender for rehabilitation of the neighbourhood's existing houses will be launched later this year, with the aim of the area's integral rehabilitation.
