The Portuguese cruise ship 'World Voyager' has made its way to Funchal, Madeira, for a planned 22-hour stopover. The vessel, which is under the management of the local agency Transinsular, arrived from Leixões at 4:00 PM on May 15, 2026.
Carrying 238 individuals on board, including 118 passengers and 120 crew members, the 'World Voyager' is on an 11-day cruise that began on May 13 and will conclude on May 24 in Lisbon. This journey includes stops at several notable destinations after departing from Madeira, such as Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and various locations in Morocco, including Agadir, Safi, and Casablanca.
The ship, registered in Madeira, is owned by the northern Portuguese entrepreneur Mário Ferreira and was constructed in 2021 at the WestSea Shipyard in Viana do Castelo. The construction of this luxury vessel cost approximately 70 million euros.
While docked in Funchal, 'World Voyager' shares the harbor with the Ocean Protector, a vessel from the European Fisheries Control Agency, and is set to be joined by the Celebrity Excel, which arrives early Saturday morning.
