One of the significant traffic accidents occurred on March 13, 2026, on the main expressway, known as the 'via rápida', near Viveiros. Two cars collided, resulting in injuries to a 55-year-old man who complained of cervical and spinal pain. The injured individual was promptly attended to by the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirense and transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further treatment.
Similarly, on March 14, 2026, two separate motorcycle accidents occurred. The first incident involved a collision between a motorcycle and a car on Rua da Quinta do Leme in Funchal. A 36-year-old motorcyclist suffered injuries to his ribs and leg and was taken to the hospital for care.
