In the late morning, a motorcycle collided with a car on Estrada Dr. João Abel de Freitas. The accident left a 71-year-old man with leg and arm abrasions. The injured motorcyclist was promptly attended to by the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses and transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for further treatment.
Car Overturn in Túnel da Fazenda
Shortly before the motorcycle incident, the Bombeiros Municipais de Machico were called to assist at a car overturn in the Túnel da Fazenda on the highway towards Machico-Caniçal. A couple in their 60s, injured in the accident, was also taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital. The woman reported chest pain, while the man suffered arm abrasions.
Cardiac Arrest on Rua Cabeço de Ferro
Earlier in the day, a 70-year-old man suffered a cardiac arrest on Rua Cabeço de Ferro. Despite the swift response from the EMIR and Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses, efforts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The PSP was involved to manage the situation.
Bus Stop Fire Near Jardim Botânico
Adding to the day's emergencies, a fire broke out at a bus stop near Jardim Botânico the previous night. The Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses, deploying eight personnel and two vehicles, managed to contain the fire without further incident.
