Traffic Accidents and Injuries
On May 7, 2026, a 34-year-old woman was injured in a car accident on the expressway when her vehicle overturned. She was promptly attended to by the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses and transported to the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further care. The incident involved two cars, with one flipping over, necessitating the deployment of seven emergency service members.
In another vehicular incident, a 60-year-old Dutch tourist lost consciousness while driving a rented car, leading to a collision with a wall on Estrada da Boa Nova in Funchal. The tourist, who suffered cervical injuries, was assisted by family members before being taken to the hospital by emergency responders.
Incidents Involving Violence and Accidents
The same day saw a violent altercation in Campo da Barca, Funchal, where a 55-year-old man was stabbed and sustained facial injuries. He was first taken to the Comando Regional da PSP before being hospitalized.
