In a significant step towards improving social welfare, Madeira has introduced a new Social Support Platform aimed at providing better assistance to those in need. This initiative was officially launched at the University of Madeira in Funchal by Paula Margarido, the Secretary of Inclusion, Work, and Youth.
The platform is designed to ensure that aid reaches those who need it most, aiming to distribute support more equitably and efficiently. Last year, the platform assisted approximately 9,000 beneficiaries, distributing a total of €2.3 million. These funds are allocated to families facing financial difficulties and to care homes.
Paula Margarido emphasized that the goal is to "give more, give better, and when people actually need it." This approach underscores the commitment to social equity and the efficient allocation of resources to improve the quality of life for Madeira's residents.
Madeira's new platform is part of a broader strategy to enhance social support systems, reflecting the island's dedication to addressing economic challenges and supporting its community effectively.
