The Autonomous Region of Madeira is hosting the 14th edition of the World Conference on Information Systems and Technologies (WorldCIST’26). This prestigious international event brings together researchers, academics, industry professionals, and decision-makers in the field of Information Systems and Technologies.

Co-organized by the University of Madeira and the Information and Technology Management Association, the 2026 edition underscores the conference's growing international influence and scientific maturity.

WorldCIST’26 represents a strategic opportunity for Madeira to enhance its global profile in science, technology, and innovation. The event not only highlights the island's role in the digital transformation and AI sectors but also strengthens its educational and technological ties worldwide.

The conference, held at the Rectorate Building’s Auditorium within the Jesuit College, features key speakers including Sílvio Moreira Fernandes, Rector of the University of Madeira, and Elsa Fernandes, Regional Secretary for Education, Science, and Technology. Álvaro Rocha, General Chair of the conference and President of the Information and Technology Management Association, also leads discussions.

This year, the conference received nearly 400 scientific submissions from 53 countries, resulting in the selection of 205 papers after rigorous review by a committee of 451 experts. These papers will be presented and published, reflecting the high academic standards and quality of the event.

Hosting WorldCIST’26 provides Madeira with a platform to showcase its advancements in IT and related fields, drawing attention from global experts and fostering local innovation. The event is a testament to Madeira's position as a growing hub for technological development and research.
