The JPP party demands answers regarding the temporary beach closure at Praia do Vigário and the measures taken to prevent future issues in Câmara de Lobos.

The Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) party is seeking detailed explanations from the Câmara de Lobos municipal authorities regarding the quality of bathing waters at Praia do Vigário. Concerns have been raised following the temporary closure of the beach in June last year due to water quality issues.

Miguel Ganança, a councilor from JPP, expressed the need for a comprehensive analysis of the situation during a municipal meeting held on Monday. He emphasized the importance of understanding the actions taken after last year's incident and the preventive measures implemented by the PSD-led local government to avoid similar occurrences in the future.

The focus is not only on identifying the causes of the temporary closure but also on evaluating the current state of the local sewage treatment plant (ETAR) and its impact on the surrounding marine environment. The JPP aims to ensure that the health and safety of both residents and tourists are prioritized.

Câmara de Lobos, a picturesque fishing village known for its vibrant culture and scenic beauty, relies heavily on tourism. The quality of its beaches is paramount to maintaining its reputation as a prime tourist destination. The local government is under pressure to provide transparent communication and effective solutions to reassure both the local community and visitors.
