The Institute of Wine, Embroidery and Handicrafts of Madeira (IVBAM) has completed training for 60 professionals in the HORECA sector on Madeira wine. This initiative, aimed at enhancing the knowledge and promotion of this iconic regional product, marks a significant step in supporting Madeira's booming tourism industry.

In an effort to bolster the tourism and hospitality industry in Madeira, the Institute of Wine, Embroidery and Handicrafts of Madeira (IVBAM) has successfully trained 60 professionals in the HORECA sector, which encompasses hotels, restaurants, and cafes, on the nuances of Madeira wine. This training took place in the first quarter of this year and is part of the 'Madeira Wine for Professionals – Level 1 Qualification' course.

The initiative is designed not only to enhance professional knowledge of Madeira wine but also to promote one of the island’s most prestigious products. In recent years, Madeira has seen a surge in tourism, which has prompted industry leaders to focus on elevating the quality and recognition of local offerings.

The training program emerged from discussions and meetings between the IVBAM and stakeholders in the HORECA sector, emphasizing the need for ongoing professional development to meet the demands of a growing tourist influx. This course represents a proactive step towards ensuring that the local workforce is well-equipped to offer high-quality service and knowledge about Madeira's famous wine.

Madeira wine is not just a beverage but a cultural symbol of the region, known for its rich flavors and historical significance. The training has equipped professionals with both the technical skills and the cultural context necessary to effectively promote and serve this iconic product.

This initiative is particularly timely as Madeira continues to grow as a prime tourist destination, attracting visitors from around the world who are eager to experience its unique offerings. By investing in the education of those in the hospitality industry, Madeira aims to maintain its reputation for exceptional service and high-quality local products.
