Madeira mourns the loss of three beloved community members: João Sidónio Sousa de Abreu Nabo, Lília de Andrade de Abreu da Graça, and Marco José Abreu Costa. Their funerals will be held in various locations across the island.

In a solemn week for the Madeira community, we bid farewell to three of our cherished residents: João Sidónio Sousa de Abreu Nabo, Lília de Andrade de Abreu da Graça, and Marco José Abreu Costa. Each has left an indelible mark on the island, remembered fondly by family, friends, and the wider community.

João Sidónio Sousa de Abreu Nabo

João Sidónio Sousa de Abreu Nabo passed away on March 18, 2026. He lived on Rua 6 de Maio in Ribeira Brava. His funeral service is scheduled for Friday, March 20, 2026, at the parish church of São Bento, Ribeira Brava, with a mass at 16:00, followed by burial at the local cemetery. A 7th day mass will be held on March 24, 2026, at 08:00.

Lília de Andrade de Abreu da Graça

Lília de Andrade de Abreu da Graça also passed away on March 18, 2026. Residing at the Complexo Habitacional Encosta dos Socorridos in Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, her funeral is set for March 20, 2026, at the cemetery chapel in Câmara de Lobos at 10:30, with burial to follow. A 7th day mass will be held on March 28, 2026, at the Santa Cecília parish church.

Marco José Abreu Costa

Marco José Abreu Costa passed away on March 17, 2026. He lived in the Conjunto Habitacional Canto do Muro in São Gonçalo, Funchal. His funeral will take place on March 19, 2026, at the cemetery of Nossa Senhora da Piedade, with a mass at 10:00. A 7th day mass is scheduled for March 22, 2026, at the São Gonçalo parish church.

The families of each individual have expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support and condolences from the community. These ceremonies not only honor the lives of the deceased but also reflect the strong community bonds in Madeira, where traditions like the 7th day mass play a significant role in the grieving process.
