Funchal council validates 2026 equality plan

Funchal's Municipal Council for Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination validated its 2026 activities plan during the first ordinary session of the current term, held in the Sala da Assembleia Municipal do Funchal. Councillor Helena Leal chaired the meeting.
The session reviewed actions already carried out during the year and validated initiatives planned until December. These include actions linked to World Equality Day in October and the International Day for the Eradication of Violence against Women in November.
The agenda also includes the Madeira Pride March, scheduled for Saturday, 26 September.
The CMIGND is a consultative body of the Municipality of Funchal. It brings together different entities to promote reflection and cooperation on gender equality and non-discrimination and to contribute to municipal policies in this area. According to the municipality, the council aims to strengthen cooperation between the Municipality of Funchal and the entities represented in the body.
