The proposed law seeks to provide PSP officers in Madeira and the Azores with a 'fixation supplement' similar to that already granted to the Correctional Guard Corps, amounting to 15% of their base salary. This supplement is intended to offset the higher cost of living and mobility challenges associated with insular life.
Câmara's decision reflects his commitment to prioritize the needs of residents in Madeira and Porto Santo, emphasizing the importance of justice and equality for those serving in these regions. "Our geographical isolation presents unique challenges, and it's crucial to ensure that those who serve and protect us are adequately compensated," he stated.
