Funchal, Madeira is bustling with excitement as it hosts two cruise ships, the Spirit of Adventure and the Silver Dawn, which have brought a combined total of 2,281 people, including passengers and crew, to the island. The Spirit of Adventure, operated by Saga Cruises and managed by Wilhelmsen, was the first to arrive at the Port of Funchal at 7:45 AM. This ship, carrying 966 passengers and 506 crew members, is on a 14-day cruise that started on May 15 in Portsmouth, UK. Its journey has included stops in various Portuguese ports, with its next destination being Porto Santo.
Following in the afternoon, the Silver Dawn of Silversea Cruises, managed by AgĂȘncia Ferraz, docked at 1:30 PM after departing from Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This luxury vessel carries 384 passengers and 425 crew members and is completing a 141-day world tour that began in January in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Both ships will remain docked in Funchal overnight, providing passengers with the opportunity to explore the rich cultural and natural attractions Madeira has to offer. The presence of these ships is expected to stimulate the local economy, particularly in the hospitality and retail sectors.
