Community Mourns Loss of Three Beloved Madeira Residents

Madeira Island mourns the passing of three cherished community members: Maria Paixão Cavaleiro da Câmara Rodrigues, Ricardo Jorge de Sousa Brito, and José Manuel da Silva Moniz. Their funerals will be held on January 4, 2026, at Nossa Senhora das Angústias, São Martinho.

The Madeira community is grieving the loss of three beloved residents: Maria Paixão Cavaleiro da Câmara Rodrigues, Ricardo Jorge de Sousa Brito, and José Manuel da Silva Moniz. All three individuals passed away recently, leaving behind grieving families and friends.

Funeral Services Scheduled for January 4, 2026

The funerals for these respected members of the community will take place on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the capela do cemitério de Nossa Senhora das Angústias, São Martinho. Each service will honor the lives and contributions of these individuals, who were well-regarded by their families and communities.

  • Maria Paixão Cavaleiro da Câmara Rodrigues' service will begin with a mass at 12:30 PM, followed by cremation.
  • Ricardo Jorge de Sousa Brito's service will start at 3:30 PM, following a departure from Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça at 1:30 PM for inhumation.
  • José Manuel da Silva Moniz's service will commence with a mass at 2:00 PM, following a departure from Hospital Dr. João de Almada at 1:00 PM for cremation.

Memorial Services and Community Support

In addition to the funeral services, memorial masses will be held as follows: for Maria Paixão on January 10 at 7:00 PM in the Igreja Paroquial de Nossa Senhora da Luz, Ponta do Sol; for Ricardo Jorge on January 6 at 6:00 PM in the Igreja Paroquial do Espírito Santo, Porto Santo; and for José Manuel on January 11 at 9:30 AM in the Igreja do Carmo, Funchal.

The families have expressed their gratitude for the support and condolences received from friends, neighbors, and community members during this challenging time. They particularly appreciate the efforts of the medical teams and caregivers who provided care and comfort.
