The Sé Cathedral in Funchal is set to revive the Candlelight Procession on May 12, honoring Our Lady of Fátima, followed by a significant book launch by the Bishop on May 14.

Funchal, the vibrant capital of Madeira Island, is gearing up for a spiritually enriching week with two significant events that are set to draw both locals and tourists alike. The Sé Cathedral will host the revered Candlelight Procession on May 12 in honor of Our Lady of Fátima, a tradition that deeply resonates with the local community's faith and devotion.

The procession will commence at 8 PM with a solemn mass, followed by the traditional candlelit walk and the recitation of the Rosary. This annual event is a poignant expression of spirituality, unity, and religious tradition, drawing numerous faithful participants each year.

Book Launch by the Bishop of Funchal

Complementing the religious festivities, the Bishop of Funchal, D. Nuno Brás, will launch his new book, "Maria, Peregrina de Esperança," on May 14. The launch event will take place at 6 PM in the Sacristy of the Church of the College, with the presentation led by Rector Pe. Carlos Almada.

This book release is anticipated to attract a wide audience, offering insights into themes of hope and spirituality. It's an opportunity for the community to engage with the Bishop's reflections and perspectives.
