Madeira Island is observing a solemn week as it bids farewell to four of its beloved residents who have passed away recently. The community is coming together to honor Maria Irene Soares Rodrigues da Silva, José Alexander Ferreira Pinto, Francisco Gonçalves Delgado, and Maria Celeste da Silva Ganança. Each of these individuals leaves behind a rich tapestry of family ties and community connections, highlighting the deep-rooted cultural traditions of the island.

Maria Irene Soares Rodrigues da Silva

Maria Irene Soares Rodrigues da Silva, a resident of Caminho da Levada do Salão, Câmara de Lobos, passed away on April 13, 2026. Her funeral will be held on April 14, 2026, at the cemetery chapel in Câmara de Lobos, followed by a mass at 3:30 PM. Her family extends their gratitude to all who supported them and to the medical staff of Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça.

José Alexander Ferreira Pinto

José Alexander Ferreira Pinto lived in Caminho da Longueira, Campanário. He passed away on April 13, 2026. His funeral is set for April 14, 2026, at Nossa Senhora das Angústias, São Martinho. The ceremony will commence at 10:00 AM, followed by a cremation. The family appreciates the support received and invites all to the 7th-day mass at São Martinho, Funchal.

Francisco Gonçalves Delgado

Francisco Gonçalves Delgado, from Caminho da Volta do Carro, Santa, Porto Moniz, passed on April 13, 2026. His funeral was conducted on the same day at the parish church of Santa Maria Madalena, Porto Moniz, with subsequent burial in the local cemetery. A 7th-day mass will be held on April 18, 2026.

Maria Celeste da Silva Ganança

Maria Celeste da Silva Ganança, a resident of Caminho do Lombo da Casada, Ponta do Sol, passed away on April 12, 2026. Her funeral took place on the same day at Santo António chapel, Lugar de Baixo, Ponta do Sol. Her family extends their thanks to all who participated in the services and invites everyone to the 7th-day mass on April 18, 2026.
