Funchal's Christmas ice rink in the Jardim do Almirante Reis - real ice, not a synthetic panel, four euros for twenty minutes.

The municipality has put a genuine rink in this garden every Christmas since 2023, and it is the one seasonal thing on the island children ask to do twice. Twenty minutes is short and the queue builds on December evenings, but at four euros a family does two rounds rather than one. Outside the festive weeks there is no ice anywhere on Madeira.

Worth knowing: Six euros rather than four buys the support frame. For a first-timer under about six that is the difference between skating and sitting on the ice.

Opening hours

The operator publishes no opening hours. Phone before you drive.

Prices

4 € for twenty minutes, 6 € with the support aid younger children use, in the 2025-26 edition. Walk up and pay at the rink.

Season

Christmas only. The 2025-26 edition ran from late November to 6 January, daily until midnight and until 04:00 on 23 and 31 December. The 2026-27 edition had not been announced when this was checked in September 2026 - check the municipality's page in November before you promise it to anyone.

Getting there

Prices and opening times change without notice, and on this island they change often. Everything here carries the date it was checked in our research notes; if a place has moved or closed, tell us and we will fix it.
