Surf, bodyboard and stand-up paddle lessons from Porto da Cruz or the calmer Machico promenade, including private lessons for children.
The widest menu of the local schools - three board sports in one price band - and the only one that has recently advertised a child's private lesson in so many words. Having a Machico meeting point as well as a Porto da Cruz one matters for a family: when the north coast is too big, the bay usually is not. What it does not publish is an age floor, a lesson length or a firm price per activity, so you are booking against a range rather than a number.
Worth knowing: Ask for the Machico promenade meeting point if the north-coast forecast looks big - same school, sheltered bay. No transfer is included from Funchal.

Prices
Surf, bodyboard and SUP are all listed at 55-200 €, the range covering group through private. Equipment hire from 25 €. Each lesson includes a briefing, a warm-up, a certified instructor, all equipment and insurance.
