Surf lessons out of Machico, from the sheltered end of the island's surf coast, for children of eight and over who can swim.
The school states its rule plainly in its own FAQ: over eight, able to swim or at least comfortable in waves. Machico's imported-sand bay is the calm option when the north coast is unrideable, and a lesson is two hours with at least ninety minutes of it in the water. There is no junior programme - a child of eight joins the adult group lesson.
Worth knowing: Do the arithmetic on the private rate before you book group places: 300 € covers two or three people, so a parent with two children pays the same as three group tickets and gets the coach to themselves.

The operator publishes no opening hours. Phone before you drive.
Prices
Group lesson 60 € a head, five lessons 250 €, ten 500 €. Private coaching 150 € for one, 300 € for two or three, 360 € for four to six. No child rate is published.
