Porto Santo's only nautical school, running surf, windsurf and paddle sessions off the calmest beach in the archipelago.

Porto Santo is where a nervous child should learn: nine kilometres of sand, no reef underfoot, and water that stays flat when Madeira's north coast is closed out. The catch is that almost nothing is written down - no working website, no published prices, no stated minimum age - so this is a phone call before you book the ferry rather than a click.

Worth knowing: The base is at Praia do Cabeço near the Hotel Luamar, at the far Calheta end of the beach, not in Vila Baleira. Call or message the Facebook page first; the old website is gone.

Prices

No prices are published by the operator. Resellers advertise figures the academy itself does not, so ask on the phone and ask about the child's age at the same time.
